FREQUENCY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

MPSFAC - Serving Michigan RF Spectrum Users Since 1946

A number of guidelines and regulations effect how frequencies may be coordinated.

Improper RF emissions may put life and property at risk. Users are cautioned that a violation of these guidelines may lead to sanctions. Compliance with frequency use as designated below is required for interoperability standards.

Many MPSFAC Policies are provided in a written format. The "origins" of the Michigan Emergency Public Safety System (MEPSS), regulations promulgated for MEPSS and a long standing method of addressing interoperability issues are also described in a brief presentation from 1979.

A formal plan for administering frequencies in the 800 MHz spectrum has been created. We recommend you review this document before making an application for frequencies within 800 MHz.

Some general frequency usage guidelines follow. They are frequencies used state-wide or specially allocated:

NOTE: Certain 800 MHz frequencies have been reserved for tactical law enforcement use in each of the state's counties. Contact the Frequency Coordinator for information.
